Time Capsule

The actual time capsule is a Miracle Whip jar. It contained a piece of paper with a letter on one side and a map and another note on the flip side. There was some money in it ($2.06) That is gone :) There are five billfold photos...all of the same person with different names on the back. The photos are dated March 10, 1966. There is also a broken letter opener, a golf pencil, two buttons and two fishhooks. The original letter is dated March 20, 1966. It states it is property of The Royal Rangers Boys Club, Des Moines, Iowa. Here is an image of the letter... The names on the letter are: Tim Raleigh Rick Swakhammer Herb Richards - C.O. Bryant Raleigh Jay Helton - Lt. C.O. Mike Swakhammer Dan Routh Denny Starrett On the flip side of the letter is a map of Ledge called "Ye Treasure Map" and then there is a list of names belonging to the Southtown Pentecostal Junior Hi Boys Class. This is dated Thursday, June 28, 1973.

I have set up as a blog but really using this as a website to capture and display information I have been in possession of since the mid '70s. A friend and I found this time capsule at Ledges State Park probably around 1974...maybe 1975. I remember it being under a rock overhang off a trail. We were just digging around. I will be adding photos and scans at some point.
